So I’ve been looking at how to get a little bit more content out of various dives and explorations I’ve done, mostly mental. I’ve been exploring various subjects, I’ve written down notes, I’ve got ideas that I’ve explored, ventures I’ve explored. And one way or the other, pretty much all of them have fallen into — I haven’t completed anything in any of them.

There are a few that still have a little bit of leg in them. But the point being is, I wanted to come up with some way of making it fulfilling, or having it actually land with an audience, so I can get some kind of — honestly, I just wanted to share some of it, because some of it’s quite interesting to me and I think it would be interesting to other people. So the lowest friction possible way of doing this was to make voice recordings.

Part of this has to do with an inner voice of my mind that I call the professor, who basically starts talking as if trying to explain and or teach a subject that I’ve gone through to someone else. He pops up occasionally. Usually when I’m about to go to sleep, or trying to go to sleep, I just start thinking through something — how I would explain a topic to someone.

So that’s what this is for. I’ve got a lot of notes on ideas and explorations. The intent at this point is to make recordings like this that are conversational.

And since it’s just me, it’s a little bit easier for me to talk about it, not feel judged, not get caught up in other people’s rhythm. I tend to be reactive when I talk with people rather than proactive or pushing my own agenda, which is a plus or a minus — take your pick. But like I said, I’ve gone through many organizational ideas.

I think I’m something of a free spirit where it’s all just me exploring a topic to where I feel like I understand it, or I feel satisfied, and then I basically just drop it. And that has actually extended to my project work as well — trying to do projects, I get to a point to where I feel satisfied, I’ve gotten everything out of it that would be fun.

And then I simply drop it, which means a lot of stuff has been incomplete. That’s not a bad thing. Other people might view it as lazy or unorganized. I’m okay with being that. I’m okay with being who I am. I’m just trying to add a little bit more — as I said — to where I could share this with other people.

So this is my first recording doing that. I’m going to try and make these episodes focused on a topic. For example, I’ve got other topics I’m not mentioning on purpose right now, so I could just keep them in their own (space/context). But obviously, if a piece of one topic is relevant to another topic, I’ll bring it in.

And probably there’s another piece of this where I feel like I don’t get to talk about what I want to talk about often. Or I feel that my subject matter is either very niche or very boring to other people. I don’t think my tone of voice is boring. I also have some comedy chops, but those tend to be more in the moment than anything else.

So part of this is me exploring a way to be more fulfilled — even though my own internal universe is pretty fulfilling, I want to add some more, and share some of the interesting stuff I’ve come across. And hopefully other people will enjoy some of the adventures, the internal adventures I’ve had exploring around. I think that’s good enough for an initial recording.
